About Sherry Bishop

MS, LMHC, ACS

Sherry Bishop, MS, LMHC, ACS, holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from George Williams College in Downers Grove Illinois. After graduation Sherry co-sponsored an intensive practicum experience for family therapy interns in structural family therapy. In this capacity she provided ongoing supervision for interns, including live supervision of family therapy sessions. She also provided education for medical personnel and the community at large on a number of topics as well as conducting a small private practice. She continued to expand her knowledge base through extensive training in Ericksonian hypnotherapy, addictions, and conduct disorder.

In 1989 Sherry and her husband Martin moved to Sequim, Washington. After an initial period working in a local community mental health center and teaching classes in mental health issues at Peninsula College, she went into a robust full-time private practice with her husband.

She sees individuals, couples and families with a variety of different treatment issues, including anxiety and depression, sexual and eating disorders, drug and alcohol addiction and abuse, among others. Recently she has specialized in treating “Empathic Co-Narcissists”, a term coined to describe the client who struggles with relational interactions in the face of a narcissistically driven partner, family member, or colleague. This interest was inspired by her clinical work, in addition to two years of pre-degree experience working with conduct-disordered individuals at the Middlesex Hospital in London.

Sherry continues to provide community education, supervision and consultation services, and has written a self-help book for former Catholics, to aid them in recovery from issues of guilt and fear from childhood.
